Boundaries for Life: Get your health checked at the Cricket in 2019

Healthy Stadia is pleased to announce its involvement in this year’s Boundaries for Life health checks programme for the 2019 cricket season which will operate at 10 matches including several Ashes tests later this year.

Boundaries for Life is a health screening initiative that aims to engage fans in a relaxed environment. The health checks, which take approximately 15 minutes, are designed to access hard-to-reach communities. In particular men from black and minority ethnic backgrounds (BAME) – many of whom would not normally access statutory health services.

Medical professionals including doctors, nurses and dentists perform the health checks which include measurement of resting blood pressure, measuring body mass index (BMI), a cholesterol and blood glucose check and a basic mouth exam.

The data collected* is then entered into a heart age calculator which provides service users with a summary data of the impact of their lifestyle on their body and whether or not they need to follow anything up with their GP or dentist. Generally speaking, the younger your heart age, the healthier you are.

As Boundaries for Life enters its tenth year of delivery, we’re proud to be travelling the length and breadth of the country visiting six stadia over ten fixtures including Headingley in the north and Lords in the south.

This year Boundaries for Life will be hosted at a wide selection of international matches and domestic fixtures at the following grounds, with four lots of checks already completed this year:

  • Friday 22 March: Sport Relief with Lancashire County Cricket Club – Old Trafford (Manchester)
  • Saturday 4 May: Warwickshire vs Lancashire – Royal London Cup Game – Edgbaston (Birmingham)
