Active Voice Project Kicks Off in Birmingham
Early in February Healthy Stadia attended the kick-off meeting for a new 3 year-long EU Erasmus + project entitled ‘Active Voice’. Coordinated by the International Sports and Culture Association (ISCA), the project was commissioned to augment the implementation of the EU Physical Activity guidelines through:
Promoting voluntary activities in sport, together with social inclusion, equal opportunities and awareness of the important of health-enhancing physical activity (HEPA) through increased participation in, and equal access to, sport for all.
Amplifying the voice of, and building capacity in civil society organisations to engage in active, cross-sector advocacy for the implementation of the EU Physical Activity Guidelines, in order to broaden the impact of the project both during and after completion of the project.
Healthy Stadia joined a group of six European partner organisations in Birmingham over 3-5th February to begin the implementation of the project, including ISCA, European Cycling Federation (ECF), EPODE International Network, European Physical Education Association (EUPEA), and the International Association of Sport and Leisure Infrastructure Management (IASLIM). Additional national level partners will be involved in the project from Poland (V4Sport), Bulgaria (BG BE Active), France (UFOLEP), Greece (Greenway SCE) and Italy (UISP) to establish an evidence base for active advocacy currently in place for physical activity promotion and other examples of best practice from outside the sector.
It is expected that Healthy Stadia will contribute to the project primarily through collection of good practices, pilot studies, training events with grassroots sports organisations and dissemination of project activities and key results, although this role is likely to evolve as the project develops. The project website will be live soon.
